First and foremost, I apologize for being so MIA lately, but nothing really note-worthy has happened in the past week. I stayed in Montbéliard this past weekend since my friend Natalie, another assistant came to visit me from Besançon. We had a more than relaxing weekend involving two movies (“Love Actually” -to get in the Christmas spirit and “Two for the Road” a personal Audrey Hepburn favorite). When it gets cold, what can I say, sometimes it’s just more fun to be a hermit and take refuge inside, especially when you have someone fun to chill with.
I’ve now officially gotten through my two hells day of the week. I really don’t have many things to complain about here. Usually, anything that merits complaining though happens either Monday or Tuesday, my longest work days and the days when I work at my least favorite school. The kids at this school aren’t evil or completely bouncing off the wall, but they are annoying and rambunctious. They simply don’t listen and like to test my limits. And it may be hard to believe, but all in all, I don’t like being mean and yelling the whole class period. Basically, they just make it difficult to teach, unlike my other two schools. Fatigant!
So after a long of rigorous teaching and a short trip to the produce market across from my apartment, I began to enter through the gate to my building. It was completely dark in the corridor, which wasn’t the odd thing. The odd part, was when I went to switch the light on I saw two shadowed figures embracing. I didn’t want to disturb, what turned out to be a couple busy lip locking so I made my way past them in the dark. Forgetting to push the button to open the main entrance, I doubled back with a new smile on my face, forgetting all about my little ankle-bitters back at Hérimoncourt. Nothing like walking “in” on someone to lighten up the day.
